Faith in the Storm, Part 2: Drowning Out Doubt

April 02, 20252 min read

Uncertainty can be a powerful force—one that creeps in when you least expect it. Peter took an incredible step of faith onto the water because he trusted Jesus’ word, yet doubt slipped in the moment he noticed the raging wind. Instantly, he began to sink.

Here’s the truth: doubt is the only thing strong enough to separate you from walking in the miraculous. It happened to Peter, and it happens to us. Remember, Jesus didn’t let him go under; He immediately caught Peter and asked, “Why did you doubt?” That single question reminds us God is bigger than any storm we face—and that fear has no place when our eyes are locked on His power.

When we fixate on the size of the storm rather than the size of our God, doubt gains a foothold. Keeping your gaze on Christ doesn’t magically calm the waters all at once, but it does anchor your faith so you stay afloat. The only failure is letting doubt keep you in the boat.

Take Action This Week

  1. Identify Doubts: Write down three common doubts you battle (e.g., “I’m not good enough,” “I’ll fail again,” “God can’t fix this”).

  2. Speak Truth: Find a Scripture verse that counters each doubt. Post these verses somewhere you’ll see them daily.

  3. Encourage Someone: Share one of these verses with a friend going through a tough time, and be the hand that lifts them up.
