Have you ever felt like life’s challenges are pushing you backward no matter how hard you row? If so, you’re right where the disciples were in Matthew 14. They fought the wind and waves all night, terrified and exhausted—until Jesus showed up walking on the water, telling them, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
Peter did the unthinkable: he asked Jesus to command him to come out onto the waves. Without a second thought, he climbed out of the boat and did what no one else had ever done—he walked on water. That was extraordinary faith in action. When he kept his eyes on Jesus, he stayed afloat. The moment he focused on the storm, he began to sink.
Even then, Jesus reached out and caught Peter’s hand. In our moments of doubt, God’s grace is right there, ready to lift us up. Your storm isn’t meant to defeat you—it’s an opportunity to deepen your faith, grow in your calling, and trust more fully in God’s power.
